Every year, the activity students look forward to the most is their class trip. This year, the Class of 2018 went to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Unlike other amusement parks, Busch Gardens holds one of the largest zoos with safaris and animals to correlate to its African theme. It has 6 top rated, thrilling roller coasters which include Sheikra and Cheetah Hunt and several other rides and shows to appeal to all ages and preferences.

It was an early morning for the juniors and chaperones on Saturday, Mar. 4th as they met at the school at 4:30 AM. However, it proved to be worth it once they arrived at the park about five hours later. To their luck, the park was not crowded, resulting in short wait times for the rides. “The lines weren’t long at all, so we got to ride more of the roller coasters,” Lisa Vega said.

Busch Gardens is known for its exhilarating roller coasters that can go hundreds of feet in the air. Most juniors were looking forward to these rides, especially Falcon’s Fury which had a 300-foot free fall drop. However, some were terrified of the fact that the seats faced directly to the ground and swung back into vertical position moments before reaching the ground. “All my friends rode it but I like my life, so I decided not to,” said Giovana Santana.

Most of the roller coasters took photos at the highest drop or the moment with the fastest speed. “My most memorable moment of the trip was riding Sheikra and laughing with all my friends about the group picture taken during the [90 degree vertical] drop,” said Lauren Garcia.

The long day full of thrilling experiences and unforgettable moments came to a close once everyone boarded the buses in the late afternoon. “The highlight of the trip was being able to spend the day and go on various roller coasters with all my best friends,” said Michael Maza.

For Isis Gonzalez, it was her first time going to Busch Gardens and she describes herself as being intimidated by rollercoasters. “The experience was amazing. Being with my friends made the whole experience worth it,” Gonzalez said. “I’m proud of myself to try new things, I’m ready to go back honestly.”

Although the bus rides are usually expected to be boring, it was the complete opposite. This time was spent talking, laughing, listening to music, and sharing snacks with friends. “Overall, this trip was a great way to bond with other classmates and it was an amazing experience,” said Allison Medina.
